Are there any Junior Colleges w. computer programs near Sacramento, CA?
My bf and I are moving to CA in about a year... he is currently enrolled in a computer microprocessing tech program. Are there any JCs near Sacramento that have a similar program or something that would end up qualifying the graduate to work on repairing computer software/hardware? Please answer my other moving-related question as well! http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aklx5hmtwVoS9Dagx0FCNvrsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20100325092745AAqn1QL

Check out American River College. GREAT 2 year institution. AND the "Community Colleges" (as JC's are known out here) have good transfer agreements to both the State College and University System as well as the University of California System. In Sacramento, there are three main Community Colleges - ALL three are part of the Los Rios Community College system - American River, Sacramento City College and Cosumnes River College. Check out Los Rios on line.

This text focuses on the Intel 8086 family that are used in the IBM PC's and teaches students the programming, system connections, and interfacing of microprocessors and their peripheral devices in detail. Students begin with a brief introduction to computer hardware which leads to an in-depth look at how microprocessor-based computers are programmed to do real tasks. They also cover assembly language programming of 8086-based systems. Throughout the text, the emphasis is on writing assembly language programs in a top-down, structured manner. Included are comparisons between CISC and RISC microcomputer architectures and their trade-offs. 1990 HC 000pp
